We are living in a minimalist age and that is also reflected in website design.
I myself like to keep things simple and I’m always shock to see serious business websites that over complicate things with all sorts of animations that are only overloading the page and confusing the visitor.
I now realize that I’m not the only one appreciating simple and functional sites over heavy and complex ones.

You have to make sure that the images you use in your background, logo or icons shouldn’t be too large since this might make your site load too long and tendency is that visitors will close your site and look for another.
